Lavender Festival 2003

A few days before the festival, the moon rose full over the waiting field below the house.
Despite the hotter than usual weather before the festival, the lavender was perfect for harvesting that weekend.
The William Joliff band played some great bluegrass. Jake Joliff on the mandolin (age 14) was excellent.
Once the band started to play, the crowd began to gather. Soon the lawn was filled with people and their picnics, all enjoying a great show.
Sam and Monty, our St. Croix sheep, enjoyed all of the extra attention.
This year our lower field had enough lavender for people to pick. Here some folks are enjoying our Buena Vista lavender.
Martha Thomas, our wonderful lavender wand instructor, helped anyone who wanted to learn how to make a lavender wand.
What do we do after the lavender festival is all over? We relax!
